It’s been a long day. You did the job of five different people and successfully completed every assignment. Then you came home, cooked, did a load of laundry and put the kids to bed. Finally, now, you’re ready to take care of yourself and get some sleep. But what can you do to help yourself get the most rest during those precious few hours of quiet? Teas For Bedtime
Having a good routine can help to prepare your mind for better rest. Try making tea a part of your nighttime custom as you get ready for bed! Creating a nightly repetitive pattern will get your brain to automatically recognize, “okay, it’s time for bed now, let me start to relax.” A cup of tea at bedtime can also help add to the cozy atmosphere in your routine.
These are my go-to bedtime tea suggestions for rest and relaxation:
Chamomile
Coming in hot at number 1, is Chamomile tea! This is the go-to tea for me when I want to relax. The soothing and sedative-like properties of chamomile help soothe your stomach and your overall body, putting you into the perfect position to fall into a peaceful sleep.
Lavender
This is another tea known for its calming effects that can help you to relax before bed time. Even the wonderful aroma of lavender is enough to decrease anxious thoughts.
Chai
It’s cozy and you love it for a reason! With a mix of delicious, spicy ingredients that can include cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, you get a wonderful drink that not only reduces inflammation, but also gives you a soothing herbal remedy to sleep. The fragrant spices help you to relax and start your bedtime with ease.
Rooibos
A great tea that doesn’t get as much shine is Rooibos! If you want a good caffeine free option before bedtime, this is definitely a great option! Many people have had great success with reducing their stress levels by drinking this tea.
In addition to bedtime teas, here are some other helpful items that may help you to have more restful sleep!
Try An Adult Bedtime Story!
Pillows
The right pillow can make the difference between a comfortable night and an unruly night of unrest.
Room Darkening Blinds or Curtains
Some people need to block out light, in order to get the best rest. Darkening curtains help to block out any light from outside that may be coming in through your bedroom windows.
Sleep Mask
And other people need to go that EXTRA mile to shut down all light, in order to get the best rest. A really good sleep mask will block out all of those small distractions of light around your room, to help you to fall asleep and stay asleep for a longer period of time.
Sound Machine
With multiple soothing sounds, these machines help countless people to fall asleep, by blocking out all other sounds that may distract you from being able to sleep.
Comfortable Pajamas
The proper sleepwear is essential for your nighttime experience! The right fabric should feel good against your skin, while the size should be loose enough to not make you feel constricted.
Weight Blankets
It’s like a comforting hug! Many say that weighted blankets help them to feel more relaxed and less anxious.
Wax Melts
Gentle fragrances are often helpful as you try to rest. Plus wax melts are much safer to use when sleeping, than candles! Check out these from the incredible Country Luxe Co.!
Go Forth and Sip, Jolly Tea Drinkers!
Sleep is important, so we must do what we can in order to get the best rest possible every night! Bedtime tea would be a good addition to your routine. Try different teas to see which one you like, and perhaps add some of these other items to build the routine that works best for you.
