How Do You Make Cold Brew Tea?
So how do you get started? The easiest way (in my opinion,) I mentioned in a previous post. I like to simply combine a couple scoops of loose leaf tea and water in a mason jar, and leave it overnight in the fridge. That’s it! The cold brew process is really easy and it allows for optimal flavor enrichment from the tea leaves. The flavors are so rich, the tea is so cold (especially if you add ice) and it all makes for a wonderful summer experience!
Are you ready to try it? Let’s go over the quick and easy instructions again, shall we?
1. Choose Your Tea
This can be a black, white, green, herbal tea, whatever kind that you want! If you think you can drink it cold, then it’s pretty guaranteed to work here. Part of the fun is just trying it to see what works! Fruity teas are usually winners.
2. Prepare Your Brew
I like to add 1 to 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea to a paper filter, and place it in a mason jar. Then, I add 16 ounces of water to that jar. I try my best to completely cover the paper filter with the water.
3. Let it Chill
Place the jar in the refrigerator overnight. (At least 8 hours should do the trick!) The longer it steeps, the stronger the flavor will be!
4. Strain and Serve
In the morning, remove the filter from the mason jar and you are ready to enjoy your tea! This is also a good time to add any special additives, like fresh fruit, honey, lemon, whatever you want!
Go Forth And Sip, Jolly Tea Drinkers!
Once you have mastered cold brew, you won’t be able to envision your summers without it! I look forward to this season every year. Truthfully, you can drink cold brewed teas all year round, but it’s much more fun during the hot, summer months!
