It’s election time, and if you’re anything like me, it’s easy to feel the anxiety creep in as we scroll through social media, watch news reports, and listen to endless debates, and of course – figuring out who to vote for! It’s normal to feel the weight of these times, especially as emotions run high. But amidst the chaos, there’s a powerful antidote to anxiety that can help us stay rock solid—our faith, a good cup of tea, and a peaceful heart.
This week, as we navigate election anxiety and the ups and downs of public discourse, let’s explore how we can stay calm, and hopeful with the help of some simple, soothing teas and spiritual truths.
Tea: Your Comforting Companion During Election Week!
When life feels overwhelming, a hot cup of tea can be an instant comfort. It’s the perfect companion for moments when you need to pause, reflect, and calm yourself. I like to think of tea as a simple act of self-care that helps us to be more peaceful and calm, especially when the world feels noisy.
Here are some of my favorite teas to keep on hand during this busy week of the election. Each one is designed to calm your mind and help you focus on what truly matters—faith, hope, and the peace that comes from trusting God.

Why it’s perfect during election week: Sometimes, the best way to stay peaceful is to focus on something else for a while. Plus, it’s an excellent tea to enjoy during a break or while reading Scripture.

Faith and Peace: Embracing Calm in God’s Promises
As we drink our tea and settle into a peaceful space, it’s important to remember that our ultimate peace comes from God. Tea can calm our bodies, but the peace that surpasses all understanding comes from trusting in Him.
In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded to “be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” This Scripture is a gentle reminder that when anxiety creeps in, we are invited to bring our worries before God in prayer and trust Him for peace.
Here are a few practical ways you can incorporate both tea and Scripture into your daily routine to stay peaceful during this election week:
1. Pray Over Your Tea Time
As you brew your tea, take a moment to pray. Thank God for His peace and ask Him to guard your heart and mind in the coming days. Whether you’re drinking chamomile before bed or peppermint during a midday break, use that time to connect with God. You may even want to journal your prayers alongside your tea—writing down your thoughts and concerns can be an excellent way to process them!
2. Speak Scripture Out Loud
There’s something powerful about speaking God’s Word over your life. Consider memorizing a few calming verses like Isaiah 26:3—“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Declare this promise as you sip your tea and let it fill your mind with peace.
3. Take Tea Breaks Throughout the Day
If the election news feels overwhelming, take intentional breaks to step away and have a cup of tea. During those moments, turn off the TV, put down your phone, and focus on the present. Use those few minutes of calm to pray, reflect, or simply breathe deeply and trust in God’s control over all things.

Election week can bring a lot of anxiety, but with the right mindset and a warm cup of tea, we can navigate it with peace and faith! Tea, paired with God’s promises, has the power to calm our hearts, refocus our minds, and help us stay peaceful.
So, this week, remember to take breaks, sip some calming tea, and turn to God’s Word for comfort! And as you drink your tea, remember that no matter what happens in the world around us, our peace comes from the One who is always in control.
