Easy DIY Hand Butter For Wonderfully Soft Hands
No more store-bought lotions for my hands! I make my own quick and easy hand moisturizer, and you can too!
For one thing, making your own hand butter gives you the power to choose what you want to place on your body. Store bought brands often contain chemical ingredients that most people can’t even pronounce! On the contrary, in any of your DIY recipes, you get the opportunity to choose the exact natural ingredients that you know and trust.
A simple recipe to try is combining shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil.
Shea Butter – some may call it nature’s silky secret! It is filled with moisturizing and nourishing nutrients, and leaves your skin feeling smooth.
Cocoa Butter – I would definitely call it nature’s chocolatey delight! Not only is it moisturizing, but it also has an undeniably heavenly aroma that reminds you of chocolate! It’s like chocolate hydration!
Coconut oil – you could say it’s nature’s versatile extract! It’s hydrating and also has a wonderful tropical fragrance.
If you are new to the DIY world, this is a quick and easy starter recipe to try. Believe me when I say easy!
Ingredients:
- Shea butter
- Cocoa butter
- Coconut oil
- Optional: a few drops of essential oil (such as lavender or grapefruit) for fragrance
Tools needed:
- Tea cup warmer. (I use this one)
- Small glass bowl or container
- Small spatula for mixing (this pack has a few options)
Instructions:
- Place the glass dish on top of the tea cup warmer
- Add the shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil. Allow them to melt together.
- Stir the mixture until everything is well combined.
- Remove the glass dish from the warmer, and mix in a couple drops of essential oil, using the spatula.
- Place the container in the fridge to cool and solidify.
- That’s it!
Once the mixture is solid, remove it from the fridge. Scoop out some of the butter and place it in a small travel container. I usually have multiple small travel containers with butter. I place them in my bags, in my jacket pocket, etc. This way, I am never without moisture for my hands!
I especially like to apply the butter after I wash my hands. After scrubbing with harsh soap and hot water, some nice smooth buttery replenishment is just what the doctor ordered! This butter leaves my hands feeling moisturized, soft and smelling lovely!
